*Thinking Pink Breast Cancer Event*
October 18, 2009
Thinking Pink foundation hopes the bring awareness to breast cancer as a whole, however the organizations mission is to immobilize efforts to treat and educate women suffering with cancer in Africa. I had the extreme pleasure of speaking at this event, and left feeling renewed and inspired.

The Founder of Thinking Pink Foundation, Chremelda Pratt and I.
During my reign as Miss Maryland International I chose to speak on women’s issues specifically in underdeveloped and impoverished countries. No matter what culture you are from, the value of women is immeasurable. Women have the power to rebuild and regrow society. They nurture, educate, and instill societal values to their family, community, and in turn, the society.
Although I have never suffered a personal loss to Breast Caner, I realize that in actuality we have all suffered a loss from breast cancer. In the eyes of these women in sub- Saharan African I see my mother, my aunt, and my grandmother. These women battling breast cancer in Africa continue to go with out the resources, treatment capabilities, and education to save themselves, leaving their children; the women of my generation, without the necessary tools they need to exercise prevention and preform self-examinations. The call to action is NOW in breaking this vicious cycle. When one is lost, we all lose.
